Earth Day

Happy Earth Day! On 22nd April, High Halstow successfully completed their challenge to spend the whole day without electricity! Year 4 had the idea, from their inquiries, for everyone to take part in this day, in order to positively impact our planet. Due to their fantastic persuasive skills, they convinced the whole school to participate as well.

The classes enjoyed learning without the interactive whiteboards and other electrical devices. Luckily, it was a sunny day, so we didn’t miss the lights too much! Although, the windowless corridor was a little darker than normal!

Year 4 took the opportunity to clean up our local environment by going litter-picking, they were shocked at being able to fill four black-bags full of rubbish!

We all realised just how much we rely on electricity in our everyday lives. It’s made us want to cut down as much as we can from now on, we know that even small changes can make a big difference if enough of us try. We hope you can join us in our mission to help save the world!
